Mets, Duda will keep talking

By Adam Rubin

The Mets and Lucas Duda plan to keep talking, and will not cut off salary negotiations now that they have exchanged figures in advance of an arbitration hearing next month.

Duda is the lone player of the seven who were eligible for arbitration with the Mets not to yet settle.

He requested $1.9 million, with the Mets countering at $1.35 million.

If the case went to an arbitration hearing, the arbitrator would choose either Duda or the Mets' figure -- not a sum in between those two.

Duda, who turns 28 on Feb. 3, hit .223 with 15 homers and 33 RBIs in 318 at-bats with the Mets last season. He also had an extended stay at Triple-A Las Vegas.
