Parnell to repeat mound work

By Adam Rubin

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Bobby Parnell, who threw 10 pitches off a mound Friday, pronounced that session a success and intends to repeat it Sunday. Parnell's session two days ago was his first off a mound since undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disk on Sept. 10. The catcher stationed himself in front of the plate.

Parnell said he had "no apprehension."

"It's just a slope," he added, putting the achievement in context. "I've been throwing in the outfield 120 feet."

Still, Parnell said: "Each little step is progress for me and a little confidence-booster."
