TC nixes Duda as outfield consideration
By Adam Rubin
PHOENIX -- Although Lucas Duda finished Monday's series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks out of necessity in left field, Terry Collins said he is not currently considering having Duda see any additional time in the outfield.
The Mets instead are using an outfield of Eric Young Jr. in left field, Kirk Nieuwenhuis in center and Andrew Brown in right field on Tuesday night.
Curtis Granderson officially is day-to-day, with Juan Lagares headed to the DL with a right hamstring pull.
Using Duda in the outfield would have provided an opportunity to also get Ike Davis in the lineup.
"We made the commitment to play him there," Collins said about Duda at first base. "Again, you want to keep him as positive as you can. I think putting him back in left field will take away a little bit of that positive glow that he's got going right now."
