ESPNDeportes.com: Colon has cranky back
By Adam Rubin
ARIZONA -- Bartolo Colon was troubled by back stiffness leading into his disastrous start Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels, but insisted the issue would not affect his next start, Saturday against the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field.
Colon surrendered a career-high-matching nine earned runs as well as four homers against the Angels.
Colon told ESPNDeportes.com that has been undergoing treatments with cold and heat, including before Sunday's start.
"I feel good," Colon told Marly Rivera in Spanish. "Before it felt pretty tight, but I am better and it will not be a problem. It does not excuse what happened [in Anaheim]. It was just a bad day."
Colon has been plagued by lower-back problems during his career, including at the end of the 2005 season with the Angels. The issue caused him to land on the DL in 2008 with the Boston Red Sox.
