By Adam Rubin

NEW YORK -- Left-hander Josh Edgin has been dispatched to New York, although it is unclear if he will be activated, a source told ESPNNewYork.com.

The reliever was 3-0 with a 4.97 ERA in 17 appearances for Triple-A Las Vegas. He had allowed 16 hits and 11 walks while striking out 12 in 12 2/3 innings.

Edgin is on the temporary inactive list  with Vegas. He has been in Charlotte for the birth of a child.

Edgin was an early cut from big-league camp during spring training.
