Savannah short stop for 18-year-old Rosario
By Adam Rubin
NEW YORK -- Amed Rosario, the 18-year-old shortstop given the organization’s largest-ever signing bonus for an international teenager ($1.75 million), has been assigned to low-A Savannah.
Rosario has wowed in extended spring training against overmatched competition. Team officials felt he could benefit from being around the Gnats for a few weeks until Brooklyn opens its season June 13.
2012 first-round pick Gavin Cecchini will continue to get the bulk of the action at shortstop for Savannah during Rosario's stay. Rosario is expected to bounce around to different positions and back up Cecchini at shortstop until the Cyclones season begins.
