Mets will delay Harvey's mound work
By Adam Rubin
CHICAGO -- Matt Harvey, who planned to step on a mound Monday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery on Oct. 22, reportedly will have to wait longer.
The Mets plan to stall Harvey's first mound action in order to guard against the rehab from the elbow procedure going awry by doing too much too soon, the Daily News reports.
Harvey has said he wants to make five to seven major league starts this season, but the delayed mound activity is another hint that's too ambitious.
“He will just go a little slower,” pitching coach Dan Warthen told the newspaper.
