Wright due for Sunday off ... probably
By Adam Rubin
SAN FRANCISCO -- David Wright, who has started the first 61 games this season, is likely to get a day off Sunday. That is, unless he strenuously objects.
"I wouldn't put a headline on it just yet because I know this guy about as good as anybody," Terry Collins said pregame Saturday. "There could be someone in my office real early tomorrow telling me he wants in there."
Collins said he already has stressed the importance to Wright of taking a day off, even though the captain insists to his manager that he's not fatigued. Collins noted last year that a suspected cramp turned into a right hamstring strain and DL trip because Wright tried to play through it.
The Mets have Monday off after playing 20 games in 20 days, so Wright would get a two-day break.
Eric Campbell would start at third base against Tim Lincecum should Wright get the day off.
