Mejia exits early with back stiffness

NEW YORK -- New York Mets closer Jenrry Mejia was forced out of Thursday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers because of back stiffness.
Mejia pitched the 10th inning, then came out to warm up to pitch the 11th. But before he faced a batter, manager Terry Collins and the Mets' athletic trainer came to the mound, and Mejia departed shortly after that. Gonzalez Germen replaced him.
Mejia began the season in the Mets rotation but moved to the bullpen in early May and has since become the closer. Mejia has six saves in seven opportunities.
