E.Y. Jr. activated Monday; Brown demoted
By Adam Rubin
ST. LOUIS -- The Mets activated Eric Young Jr. from the disabled list for Monday's series opener at Busch Stadium. He appeared in four rehab games after recovering from a right hamstring strain.
Andrew Brown was selected to be demoted over Matt den Dekker or Eric Campbell.
Terry Collins had mentioned the possibility of needing an extra bullpen arm for a day or two after Carlos Torres, Vic Black and Jenrry Mejia combined to log eight relief innings Sunday, but the Mets are content to keep the pitching composition unchanged.
After one appearance with Class A St. Lucie, E.Y. Jr. went 0-for-9 with two walks and a stolen base in three rehab games with Double-A Binghamton.
Brown was hitting .176 (3-for-17) with one homer and two RBIs in nine games (four starts) during his latest stint with the Mets.
