Mets to honor Cashen with patch
By Adam Rubin
ATLANTA -- The Mets will wear a patch containing the initials of the late general manager Frank Cashen beginning Friday, when the team returns to Citi Field.
Cashen, the architect of the 1986 Mets, died Monday at age 88.
The patch will be worn on the right sleeve for the remainder of the season, below the patch remembering late broadcaster Ralph Kiner.
The Mets also will have a moment of silence in memory of Cashen before Friday's homestand opener against the Texas Rangers.
Cashen served as the team's GM from 1980 through 1991.
