Minors 8.8.14: Diehl double lifts Clones

By Adam Rubin

LAS VEGAS 9, ALBUQUERQUE 6: The 51s overcame a two-run deficit with a five-run eighth that was capped by a  two-run double from Danny Muno. Andrew Brown and Josh Satin also drove in two runs apiece. Starter John Lannan allowed four runs on nine hits and three walks in four innings. He surrendered two homers. Box

HARRISBURG 2, BINGHAMTON 1: The B-Mets went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left runners on base in each of the final five innings. Dustin Lawley doubled in the first inning against Austin Voth to plate Brian Burgamy, who had been hit by a pitch with two outs. Harrisburg evened the score at 1 in the bottom half against Gabriel Ynoa. Matt Skole reached on a two-out double and stole third base. Kevin Keyes' RBI single then plated him. The Senators took the lead in the second. Drew Vettleson doubled and advanced to third on a groundout. Brian Jeroloman then produced a sacrifice fly. Ynoa (2-1) allowed two runs in six innings but took the hard-luck loss. Adam Kolarek threw two scoreless relief innings. Burgamy extended his hitting streak to a season-high 12 games. Darrell Ceciliani had a nine-game hitting streak snapped. Box

FORT MYERS 4, ST. LUCIE 0: Brett Lee became the first pitcher this season to go the distance in a nine-inning game against the Mets. Stuart Turner broke a scoreless tie in the seventh with a two-out, two-strike, run-scoring triple that plated Travis Harrison. Turner’s triple was the last pitch thrown by Mets starter Kevin McGowan, who took the loss despite making his best start of the season. McGowan had only allowed two singles to that point. He began the seventh inning by walking Harrison. It was just his second free pass of the game. The Mets had an opportunity to tie the score in the eighth, but with one out and runners on the corners, Jared King grounded into an inning-ending double play for the second time in the game. The Miracle added three runs in the ninth against Paul Sewald. Gavin Cecchini and Jeff McNeil each had two hits. Box

SAVANNAH at AUGUSTA (ppd.)

KINGSPORT 16, BRISTOL 10: Ivan Wilson had a grand slam in a six-run third as the K-Mets built at 8-4 lead. Luis Guillorme went 5-for-6 with three doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. Eudor Garcia had a solo homer as part of  a 3-for-4, three-RBI night. Box

BROOKLYN 4, MAHONING VALLEY 2: Starter Corey Oswalt (5-1) allowed two runs (one earned) in six innings. Brooklyn took a 3-2 lead on Jeff Diehl's two-run double in the fourth. Box

GCL CARDINALS 3, GCL METS 2: Waldo Rodriguez surrendered a two-out walk-off RBI single to Magneuris Sierra in the ninth. The Mets had evened the score at 2 a half-inning earlier. Milton Ramos and Enmanuel Zabala each had two hits and scored a run. Box
