Parnell won't step on mound until '15
By Adam Rubin
NEW YORK -- Bobby Parnell continues to throw on flat ground as he works back from Tommy John surgery that was performed on April 8. But the Mets do not intend to have the rehabbing closer step on a mound before he shuts things down for the offseason.
Parnell will continue to rehab into September, then will take a winter off like active players. He first started tossing a baseball in early August.
Parnell may not be ready for Opening Day, but should be prepared to contribute at the major league level sometime during the opening month if he progresses as planned.
