NEW YORK -- With St. Lucie eliminated from postseason contention in the Florida State League on the final day of the regular season, 2012 first-round pick Gavin Cecchini has been promoted to Double-A Binghamton in time for this week's Eastern League playoffs.

Cecchini, a 20-year-old shortstop, hit .236 with five homers and 31 RBIs and had a .325 on-base percentage in 68 games with St. Lucie after a midseason promotion from Savannah.

Cecchini will take over the spot vacated by Dilson Herrera's promotion to the majors.

Catcher Cam Maron and right-handers Matt Koch and Tim Peterson also received call-ups to Binghamton. Maron is from Hicksville, Long Island.

Second baseman L.J. Mazzilli received a promotion from St. Lucie to Las Vegas.
