PORTLAND 8, BINGHAMTON 2: Five B-Mets errors led to seven unearned runs and undermined Jacob deGrom's second Double-A start. Center fielder Alonzo Harris failed to catch a long fly ball with one out in the first, allowing Xander Bogaerts to reach third. The error set the table for Travis Shaw's run-scoring groundout. walk, Michael Almanzar blasted a two-run double over the head of right fielder Cory Vaughn, giving Portland a 3-0 lead. With two aboard an inning later, Shannon Wilkerson shot a 1-2 pitch up the middle. Christian Vazquez scored easily from third and Derrik Gibson came in from second when Harris bobbled the grounder for his second error. Meanwhile, the B-Mets failed to score against rehabbing major leaguer John Lackey. He tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out five and allowing three hits and two walks. It marked Lackey's first appearance since suffering a strained right biceps with the Red Sox on April 6. Portland benefited from two more B-Mets errors in the fourth. Gibson reached on a throwing error by shortstop Danny Muno. Wilkerson then reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to third on a single. He scored when Vaughn’s throw to third bounced off him and skipped into the stands. In five innings, deGrom allowed seven hits and six runs (one earned). He walked four. The fielding also let down reliever Chase Huchingson in the sixth. On J.C. Linares' single, the ball skipped past left fielder Darrell Ceciliani, plating two unearned runs. Muno got the B-Mets on the board with a two-run single in the seventh. Box
