Mets hire Alderson's son as scout

The Mets have hired Bryn Alderson, son of GM Sandy Alderson, as a professional scout. Here's the press release with several hirings/promotions:

The New York Mets today announced the following promotions and additions to the club’s amateur scouting, professional scouting and player development departments.

Chris Becerra was promoted to Director, International Scouting after working as an Area Supervisor in 2011. Jim D’Aloia was promoted to Director, Professional Scouting after joining the organization in 2011 as a professional scout. Doug Thurman will now serve as the West Coast Scouting Supervisor. He has been an area scout with the Mets for the last four years. Tim Fortugno, who served as the West Coast Supervisor last year was promoted to a professional scout. Hector Rincones was promoted to Venezuelan Supervisor. He spent 2011 as an International Scout.

Ron Romanick, the pitching coach for the Oakland Athletics in 2011 and a member of their coaching staff for the last four years, has been named the Mets minor league pitching coordinator.

The Mets added two professional scouts, Tom Clark, a long time scout, who most recently worked as a pro scout with the Toronto Blue Jays and Bryn Alderson, who was a pro scout with the Oakland A’s for the last five years.

The club also announced the hiring of four amateur area scouts: Mike Silvestri (South Florida, Puerto Rico), Jim Bryant (North Florida, Georgia), Kevin Roberson (Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Nevada) and Jarrett England (Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee). In addition, Ash Lawson joined the organization as a Special Assignment Scout.

The Mets previously announced that Tom Tanous was named Director, Amateur Scouting.
