Logan Verrett returned to Mets

NEW YORK -- Right-hander Logan Verrett, who was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the Rule 5 draft in December, has been returned to the New York Mets.

He has been assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas.

After spending spring training with Baltimore, the Orioles began the process of returning Verrett to the Mets. However, the Texas Rangers claimed him on the eve of the regular season.

Verrett, 24, allowed seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits and four walks in nine innings spanning four relief appearances with the Rangers. He was designated for assignment 10 days ago.

Verrett went 11-5 with a 4.33 ERA in 28 starts for Las Vegas in 2014.
