With the B-Mets trailing 6-5, Dustin Lawley had a one-out solo homer in the bottom of the 10th to prolong the game. Gilbert Gomez's bunt advanced De La Cruz to third, although it forced out Pina at second. Evans then drove the first pitch he saw from Fermin to deep center for a sac fly. T.J. Chism worked a perfect ninth for the save for his second save in three days. The Mets have won 16 of 19. The game had remained scoreless until Jake Esch hung a 1-2 breaking ball to De La Cruz in the fifth. De La Cruz lined it over the left-field wall for his fourth homer. St. Lucie starter Domingo Tapia cruised, retiring 11 in a row at one point and 15 out of 16. He ran into trouble in the seventh after Matt Juengel led off with a single. Tapia rebounded to retire the next two batters, but Josh Adams singled to move Juengel into scoring position. No. 9 hitter Ryan Goetz then tied the score with a single that plated Juengel. Beck Wheeler, activated off the disabled list earlier in the day, faced rehabbing Marlin Adeiny Hechavarria with the tying run at third base. Wheeler won an eight-pitch battle by getting Hechavarria to ground out. Wheeler then pitched around a two-out walk and wild pitch in the eighth to earn the win.
