Ticket from the first home game in franchise history, which will be on display at Citi Field during this 50th anniversary season.
The ticket will be on loan for a year from Bob Kolb, a retired resident of Woodmere on Long Island, who recently moved to Boca Raton, Fla.
Kolb, now 65, was riding a bicycle not far from the Polo Grounds as a 16-year-old when a police officer offered him tickets to the game. He was living with his family at 158th and Riverside at the time, a five- or 10-minute walk from the Polo Grounds.
The Pirates beat the Mets, 4-3, before a crowd of 12,447.
The price printed on the ticket: $215, for the season.
Kolb said he eventually hopes to sell the ticket to help secure his family's future.
