The Nets' 2011-12 roster sure looks a whole lot different now that the 2011 NBA draft has finally come to an end.
Let's take a look. And please note, this is assuming Kris Humphries re-signs and Sasha Vujacic doesn't.
C: Brook Lopez/Johan Petro
PF: Kris Humphries/Jordan Williams
SF: Damion James/Travis Outlaw/Bajon Bogdanovic*
SG: Anthony Morrow/MarShon Brooks
PG: Deron Williams/Jordan Farmar/Sundiata Gaines
*Assuming Nets can buy him out of his Euroleague contract
Analysis: Coming into the draft, the Nets needed scoring, rebounding and perimeter shooting.
They seemed to address all those needs Thursday night.
While Brooks, Williams and Bogdanovic aren't going to single-handedly keep Deron Williams from leaving at the end of the season, they each add a different dimension that can help the Nets improve from a 24-58 finish.
• Brooks brings scoring. He averaged 24.6 points per game for Providence last season. Billy King also said he might be able to challenge Anthony Morrow for the starting shooting guard position.
• Williams brings rebounding and another interior presence. He averaged 11.8 rebounds for Maryland last season. King said rebounding is something that translates from college to the pros.
• Bogdanovic brings scoring and shooting from the wing position. He averaged 18.9 points in the Euroleague and scored 17 points against Team U.S.A for Croatia during the FIFA World Championships.
All in all, this is a pretty solid start.
And if D-Will is indeed healthy and capable of scoring 20 points and dishing out 10 assists per game, the Nets are in good shape.
They could, pending additional acquisitions before the start of the 2011-12 campaign, be a playoff-caliber team in the East.
