No need to worry about D-Will just yet

If you’re concerned about the latest news regarding Deron Williams, you shouldn’t be -- at least for now.

Williams was always going to opt out. Given the new CBA rules, he’d be a fool not to.

Williams can get around $30 million more if he opts out and re-signs with the Nets.

A two-year contract extension on top of the two years already would only net him about $70 million.

But if he opts out and re-signs, he can get five years at around $100 million, and about four years for $70 million from any other team.

Williams wants to maximize his value. He should. There are not many point guards in the NBA as good as him.

The Nets know this as well as anyone. That’s why they’re going to do everything in their power to keep him.

They’re already pursuing free agents and possible trades to upgrade their roster. And on top of that, they’re moving to Brooklyn and a $1 billion arena.

If you’re a Nets fan, no need to fret just yet.
