Nets GM Billy King addressed reporters in Detroit on Friday morning:
Here are some of the major takeaways, per their tweets:
• King said center Brook Lopez is on schedule to return, but gave no timetable as to when. Friday marks seven weeks since Lopez underwent surgery to repair his broken foot. The team gave a six-to-eight week timetable for his return. When asked if Lopez, will return to practice next week, though, King replied, "Right now, I doubt it. But he may."
• Both shooting guard Keith Bogans and small forward Damion James have been lost for the season, but King said he isn’t going to waive one of them to create a roster spot. Rookie shooting guard MarShon Brooks and small forward DeShawn Stevenson should be back soon, so that’s not necessary. The Nets have 15 guaranteed contracts right now.
• King said Brooks progressed faster than expected, which is why he could play on Friday night. The Nets will obviously be careful with him, though.
