The Nets will go with the following starting lineup on Saturday night against the Spurs: Deron Williams, MarShon Brooks, Anthony Morrow, Kris Humphries and Johan Petro.
The Nets will be starting Petro because Shelden Williams re-aggravated his wrist injury on Friday night in Detroit and will only be available for limited minutes.
“He’s not supposed to play at all, but he begged me,” coach Avery Johnson said.
Maybe Shelden Williams is aware that he’s the only Net to play in all 28 games this season.
The Nets have used 13 different starters in 2011-12. The only player on the active roster that hasn’t started a game this season is rookie second-round pick Jordan Williams.
• Brooks, who missed six games with a broken right toe, will make his 10th start of the season on Saturday night. He scored seven points in 18 minutes in his return to the lineup on Friday night.
“It felt good. I was really excited about that. I mean, I didn’t play major minutes [Friday] night, but I got out there, gave my toe a run, and it responded well,” Brooks said. “I’m excited about that.”
“I just hadn’t played basketball in so long. I had a broken toe, so I had to stay off of my foot. It’s not like it was an injury where I could get up shots or anything. I didn’t really have the opportunity to shoot, especially not game-speed shots with no practice, obviously I didn’t even have a chance to get out there and play against the fellas. That was my first time playing basketball in a couple weeks. It was good to just get out there and play again.”
• The Nets (8-20) will try to snap a five-game losing streak on Saturday night. But to do so they’ll have to beat the Spurs (18-9), Johnson’s former team.
“I’ve never liked Avery, I’d just love to kick his a--,” coach Greg Popovich joked about his former point guard.
