The NBA free-agent summit is the story of the day -- we’ll be highlighting all the followups from Chris Broussard and Mark Stein, and Chris Sheridan will be our man on the Knicks and Nets. Plus a new man on the street video piece today from Robin Lundberg -- a bunch of seriously classic Noo Yawkers make their final pleas for LeBron.

It’s a carnival atmosphere at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, and Adam Rubin is there with the Mets. Rubin checks in today with analysis of R.A. Dickey’s first loss, Jenrry Mejia’s setback and an in-depth lookahead to Stephen Strasburg’s start vs. the Mets on Saturday in D.C.

Andrew Marchand tees up the Yankees series opener vs. Seattle with a look at tonight’s Cliff Lee-Phil Hughes matchup. Could Lee join Hughes in the Yankees’ rotation? Hey, why not? And Mark Simon has a blog entry explaining why the Yanks can’t afford to lose … Brett Gardner.

We’ll also have Chad Jones updates, and LaDainian Tomlinson shows off his new Jets tattoo.

Today’s chat wrap: Adam Rubin, noon.
