Thursday: Bring it on!

By Jon Scher

From here on out, it’s all about the news. But to recognize the start of NBA free agency and the high point of the Summer of LeBron, we’ve got a huge package of fresh columns and features for New York fans: Ian O’Connor says the Knicks have a shot and they’d better convert it, Johnette Howard warns that LeBron could be the most hated man in New York if he doesn’t come here (our front-page poll disputes that, by the way), Rob Parker has 10 reasons why LeBron should NOT go to Chicago or Miami, and Chris Sheridan has newsers on the Knicks and Nets’ strategy and David Lee’s upcoming free-agency tour of his own.

Today and through the holiday weekend we’ll be following up on all the audiences with the King, as Sheridan, O’Connor and ESPN’s national writers funnel us the latest.

Oh yeah, there’s also baseball: The Mets got the drop on the Marlins in the San Juan finale, and Adam Rubin is heading to Washington as the team begins a four-gamer that will be highlighted by Saturday’s encounter with Stephen Strasburg. And the Yankees’ bats went cold last night, but they get another shot at the Mariners with C.C. on the hill starting at 1 p.m. today, beginning a rare and blessed four-day run of day games.
