Rangers to face Flyers in first round

The New York Rangers will face the Philadelphia Flyers in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, which begin next week at Madison Square Garden.

The Flyers clinched the third seed in the Metropolitan Division, edging the Columbus Blue Jackets, with their 4-3 overtime win against the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday afternoon.

The Rangers, who clinched the second seed Thursday night, will have home-ice advantage throughout the first round of the playoffs. Game 1 is expected to be on Thursday, since the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors square off at MSG Wednesday night.

This is the first playoff series between the two clubs since 1997.
