GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- An interesting development at Rangers practice Friday: Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto was skating with injured winger Rick Nash as a fourth defensive pairing during drills.

Del Zotto also was used as a penalty-killer during the team's special teams portion of practice, instead of in his usual role on the power-play.

What does this mean?

The 23-year-old blue-liner may be a healthy scratch Saturday night in Montreal. Further evidence to that point is that Justin Falk skated with John Moore as part of the team's third defensive pairing.

This would be the second time Del Zotto was a healthy scratch this season. He also sat out one game against the Devils on October 19, a 4-0 loss for the Rangers.

Alain Vigneault will not be available to discuss any potential lineup changes -- he is in Montreal ahead of the team for "personal reasons" according to the team -- but hope to get more clarity on the situation after practice.
