PITTSBURGH -- New York Rangers forward Martin St. Louis was rocked by some heartbreaking news Thursday after his mother unexpectedly died.

A team spokesperson confirmed the news, but did not say whether the veteran winger would be available for Game 5 in Pittsburgh on Friday night.

France St. Louis was 63 years old. She resided in Montreal.

St. Louis and the Rangers face elimination in their second-round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins, trailing the series 3-1 after three consecutive losses.
