In case you didn’t know ...
New York Rangers
• The Rangers aren’t getting what they paid for. In 32 playoff games over the last two seasons, Nash has registered just four goals -- including three in 2013-14 (granted, they all came in the Eastern Conference finals). But he can definitely make everyone forget about the past with a strong performance in the Stanley Cup finals. Nash is the 18th-highest paid player in the NHL with an average annual value over the duration of his contract of $7.9 million per year through 2018.
• Nash, though, has been one of the best power forwards in the entire league. Since being drafted No. 1 overall by the Blue Jackets in 2002, he’s notched 336 goals in 783 career games. In two seasons, the five-time All-Star has scored 40 or more goals. His 41 goals in 2003-04 tied Jarome Iginla and Ilya Kovalchuk for the league lead.
• The Rangers have coveted Nash for a long time. In fact, it looked as though they were going to acquire him in 2011-12 at the trading deadline, but GM Glen Sather claimed he didn’t want to “dismantle” his team in order to land Nash.
