The Penguins have claimed Taylor Pyatt off waivers from the Rangers. The Rangers placed the struggling Pyatt on waivers Wednesday at noon.
Pyatt, who provides some size and experience to a Penguins squad absolutely ravaged by injuries this season, was a consistent scratch for the Rangers as of late. The 32-year-old forward, who has only one point in 22 games for the Blueshirts this season, has not played since Dec. 12.
Another interesting development on the waiver wire Thursday afternoon: Former Islander Zenon Konopka was placed on waivers by the Minnesota Wild. He's a gritty fourth-line player who is strong from the faceoff circle, so it wouldn't shock me to see him get claimed Friday afternoon.
In other Rangers news, the team agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with Anthony Duclair, a third-round draft pick in 2013. Duclair has been ripping up the QMJHL, where he has 31 goals and 57 points for the Quebec Remparts.
