92 Days: Taste of the NFL ready

Each day from now until Feb. 2, ESPNNewYork.com will take you inside the challenge of staging the most unpredictable NFL title game ever. There are 92 days to the Super Bowl.
On Monday, the Jets will host their annual fundraiser for local food shelters called Taste of the Jets.
Chefs and players will mingle with fans who paid $275 per ticket to attend the swank event.
For Wayne Kostroski, who started the anti-hunger group Taste of the NFL, this is just the beginning. He’s hosting three events in the city before the Super Bowl, culminating in a massive dinner in Brooklyn on Feb. 1.
This will be the 23rd time his group has held a pregame party the night before and in the same city as the Super Bowl. The idea is always the same -- local chefs donate their time and food; NFL athletes donate their time. The ticket proceeds go to food pantries in the NFL cities.
The average is about $600,000 a year, Kostroski said. This year stands to surpass $1 million in donations due to a larger event space at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal Pier 12 and increased capacity, at $700 a ticket. And tickets are going fast.
“We expect a sellout in the middle of December,” Kostroski said.
If that’s too much, there will be another Taste of the NFL at $250 a ticket on Nov. 15 at the New York Athletic Club.
