Javier Vazquez will make his return to the Yankee Stadium mound on Wednesday for the first time since Sept. 23, the night he hit three consecutive Tampa Bay Rays in a disastrous seventh inning. Vazquez will be one of two pitchers -- Chad Gaudin, Mop Up Man is the other -- who will relieve A.J. Burnett in a simulated game, raising the possibility that one of them will be added to the ALCS roster, since the Yankees will need a long reliever with Burnett returning to the starting rotation.

The sim game will start at an appropriate time --"High noon,'' said Burnett -- an hour in the Old West when innocent bystanders wer.e often in danger of being hit in the crossfire of wayward bullets.
