To the surprise of no one, the New York Daily News is reporting Joe Girardi's 3-year, $9 million contract has been finalized and agreed to, a done deal the minute the Chicago Cubs gave their manager's job to Mike Quade. As a Yankee insider told me the other day when I asked if he expected the negotiations to go smoothly, "What's he gonna do? Go back to Florida?''

Well, there was always the Mets job out there.
