Joe Girardi said that he thought that Bartolo Colon's four inning, two-run, four-hit and seven strikout outing was "pretty good."

Girardi won't say if anyone has a lead or not in the race for the fifth starter spot. After the Yankees' 4-2 win over the Pirates, he complimented Colon for fighting back with a scoreless third and fourth after having trouble in the second. He gave up the two runs on a single, a double, a sacrifice fly and an RBI single.

For his part, Colon said he felt good and is unconcerned with how Garcia et al are pitching.

"I'm not worried about what the other guys are doing," Colon said.

Among the pitchers vying for the fourth and fifth starter spots (Garcia, Colon, Ivan Nova and Sergio Mitre), Colon is the only one to have given up a run. Still, Colon's ERA is 3.00, which is "pretty good."
