OK, so we all know Joe Torre likes Jorge Posada. He won three World Series with him behind the plate. But Posada's a DH these days, and it turns out Torre is also a big fan of the new Yankee catcher, Russell Martin, who happened to be the catcher for the three seasons Torre managed the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"The thing about Russell is, he’s an athlete,' Torre said after an impromptu visit to the Yankees clubhouse today in advance of his official call on the team Saturday in his capacity as a newly appoinjted MLB vice-president of operations. "He’s very talented. He's had some injury issues the last couple of years. The kid handles pressure very well. Of course, New York pressure is unlike any other pressure. But I think just with everything surrounding him, he can be a nice surprise for the Yankees.''
