While Alex Rodriguez moved within one grand slam of Lou Gehrig's all-time record of 23, A-Rod tied the Iron Horse with his 14th six RBI game of his career.

A-Rod now has 14 six-RBI games in his career, which is the same as Gehrig, according to Elias. They are followed by Joe DiMaggio (12), Babe Ruth (11), Dave Kingman (11), Al Simmons (10) and Ted Williams (10).

A-Rod hit his grand slam in the eighth inning taking a 2-0 fastball down the middle from Josh Rupe deep.

"That's a hitter's dream," Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said it is "exciting" to be in the same company as Gehrig

"I think I've grown and matured to a level that I can appreciate it some and not just brush it off, like I would have in the past, perhaps," Rodriguez said.
