Cervelli back to the bigs

Backup catcher Francisco Cervelli has returned to the Bronx following a six-game rehab assignment. Cervelli fractured his left foot in spring training.

"I'm new again,'' an exultant Cervelli said in the Yankee clubhouse before tonight's game with the Blue Jays. "When you get here, you don't feel anything. I'm fresh and ready to go.''

Joe Girardi said Cervelli will catch on Sunday in place of starter Russell Martin. It is unclear how frequently Cervelli will play.

Last season, Cervelli caught most of A.J. Burnett's starts. Martin has caught Burnett so far in 2011. Girardi said he will take a "wait and see" approach on playing Cervelli.

To make room for Cervelli, Gustavo Molina was optioned to the minor leagues.
