Derek Jeter lined a single to right leading off the third inning in today's Yankees-Angels game, giving him sole possession of 28th place on the all-time hit list, ahead of Sam Rice, and leaving him just 14 hits shy of 3,000 for his career. Two batters later, after Curtis Granderson hit into a double play, Mark Teixiera lined a Joel Pineiro pitch into the right-field seats. Yanks leading 2-0.
