If David Robertson’s outing on Thursday is any indication, the Yankees’ bullpen is in worse shape than anyone thought.

In his first appearance since the team announced that Joba Chamberlain is likely out for the season, Robertson struggled with his command in the seventh inning, giving up two hits and a run in the Yankees’ 8-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Robertson allowed an RBI single to Kevin Youkilis and a two-run double to David Ortiz in Boston's seven-run seventh. Two of those runs were charged to starter CC Sabathia.

“They’re a good lineup and they hit mistakes when you make them,” said Robertson (1-0, 1.52 ERA), who is in the midst of what some are saying is an All-Star season.

Robertson will slide into Chamberlain’s eighth-inning role now that he is likely lost for the season with a ligament tear.

“It’s tough news to hear. I don’t know what else to say about it,” he said. “He’s a big arm to lose out there. We’ll just wait and see what happens.”

1-8: That's the Yankees' record against the Red Sox this season. They're also 0-6 versus Boston at Yankee Stadium. It's just the third time in franchise history the Yankees have gone winless in their first six home games against the Red Sox. They also went 0-6 in 1912 and 0-5-1 in 1913.

L's : The Yankees have lost three in a row and 10 of their last 14 home games.

HBP: Three different Yankees (Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Curtis Granderson) were hit by a pitch on Thursday night/Friday morning, matching the most HBP in the American League this season. It was the most times the Yankees were hit by a pitch since June 15, 2010 versus Philadelphia (also three).
