Eleven years later, Gordon still waiting

For his first major-league at-bat, that is. Yankee starter Brian Gordon, a converted outfielder who hit 119 home runs in the minor leagues but had to become a pitcher to make the big leagues, finally came to the plate tonight after an 11-year wait. But while he now has an official major league plate appearance on his resume, he will have to wait a little longer for an actual at-bat. Reds starter Johnny Cueto, perhaps wary of Gordon's AAA power, walked him on four pitches to start the third.
