Joe Girardi finally acknowledged today what has been pretty obvious for months now, that Pedro Feliciano, given a two-year, $8 million deal to be the Yankees main situational lefty out of the bullpen, is unlikely to throw a pitch for them this season. Feliciano, diagnosed with a torn shoulder capsule in spring training, opted against surgery in the hopes he could rehab the injury. But as Girardi admitted this morning, "Feliciano hasn't been doing a whole lot'' down in Tampa aside from "trying to play catch,'' the operative word being "trying.''

And asked if it was likely Feliciano was finished for the season, Girardi said "I would think so, yeah.''
