Rafael Soriano pitched for the first time since the middle of May. He threw a 1-2-3 ninth in the 17-3 blowout.
"I liked it," Joe Girardi said. "I thought his location was outstanding. It was good to see. He threw his slider where he wanted to. He threw his fastball where he wanted to. It is not necessarily the type of game you want to bring him in but, like I said, you want to work him back slow."
Soriano's only hit 92 on the gun once, but he said he thought his velocity will come back as he pitches more.
