Tell me you haven't heard this one before: a pitcher the Yankees have never seen is shutting them down.
After five innings Thursday, the Yankees trail 2-0 as Angels' starter Tyler Chatwood has shut them down for five innings. Bartolo Colon gave up a two-run home run shot to Alberto Callaspo, but the Yankees offense isn't helping him out.
While the Yankees have five hits on the day, they have failed to come through in the clutch so far. Their best chance came in the third with runners on first and third and one out, but Curtis Granderson grounded into his second double play to end the inning.
In his last 11.2 innings, Chatwood has given up 11 runs and he was just 6-8 with a 4.10 ERA entering the game, including a 1-3 record in his last six starts. He's only had two starts this year in which he hasn't given up a run.
Today could be No. 3.
