A couple Bronx Bombers were befuddled when things started shaking on Tuesday afternoon.

David Robertson was at his home in Manhattan, pouring a cup of coffee and getting ready to head to Yankee Stadium, when he felt his kitchen counter shake.

"The whole building was shaking," said Robertson, who lives on the 12th floor of his apartment building. "My counter was moving. I was pouring coffee and I was like, ‘Oh, earthquake!' "

It was the first time Robertson, an Alabama native, experienced an earthquake. A magnitude 5.8 quake hit Virginia and could be felt in the Big Apple on Tuesday afternoon.

"I like freaked out…. It was an earthquake in New York City. That doesn't happen all the time," he said.

On the 21st floor of his Manhattan apartment, Nick Swisher said his first thought was this "must be a crazy, windy day."

"Then I'm thinking to myself, 'I don't know,' " he said, adding, "There would have to be some ridiculous amount of wind to move my building."

Swisher never felt an earthquake when he played in Oakland so this was a new experience for him.

"I wasn't nervous about anything, but I was like, 'This is not right,' " Swisher said. "My TV is moving in my living room and I'm not touching it. It was nuts. It was crazy."

CC Sabathia didn't feel anything shake on his way to the ballpark Tuesday. But the jolts others felt Tuesday reminded him of the 1989 earthquake in San Francisco, which killed 68.

Joe Girardi was in the weight room at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday afternoon and said he didn't feel anything. Though some Yankee personnel, such as trainer Gene Monahan, said they felt a shake or two.

"I didn't feel anything. Other people said they felt stuff and I question them a little bit," he said with a laugh.

A team official said engineers and electricians reported nothing amiss at the Stadium.
