Alex Rodriguez says his lingering left thumb injury is feeling "better" but not well enough for him to play Wednesday night against the A's.
After taking ground balls and some swings in the batting cage, Rodriguez said that he would not be in the lineup against the A's.
"I'm feeling better today," Rodriguez said shortly before Tuesday's game. "Swelling has gone down quite a bit today. X-rays were good. We're hoping in the next day or two we're ready to go."
It is unclear if Rodriguez will be available as a pinch hitter on Wednesday.
TMZ-ROD: While talking about A-Rod and other Yankee topics du jour, GM Brian Cashman first jokingly referred to himself as "Back-Page Brian" -- a reference to his penchant for stirring things up with his quotes – or actions -- over the last few months.
He also added a funny quip on A-Rod.
While the Rodriguez was signing autographs, Cashman quipped: "Where's TMZ when you need them?"
He then added: "They usually get him in different situations."
