Mark Teixeira will miss Friday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a bruised right knee. Teixeira may have to sit the entire weekend series against Toronto due to the ailment.

Teixeira originally suffered the injury when he was hit by an 83-mph cutter thrown by Boston's Alfredo Aceves on Thursday.

Teixeira was hit in the top of the sixth and initially stayed in the game but was replaced in the field in the seventh by Nick Swisher. Swisher will replace Teixeira at first on Friday night.

Alex Rodriguez's availability is still up in the air. Rodriguez has missed the last five games with a left thumb sprain. In all, he has missed seven of the last ten games due to the ailment.

Rodriguez will test the thumb injury on Friday afternoon before Joe Girardi makes a final decision.
