Notes: Montero to play more, Hughes or Burnett to bullpen

Here are some rapid fire notes.

* Even with three right-handers starting for the Angels expect Jesus Montero to get a couple of DH stints this weekend, maybe even more. Girardi said he doesn't want to sit Montero too much. He is in the lineup on Friday against Jered Weaver.

* Girardi said that Phil Hughes or A.J. Burnett could be in the bullpen this weekend. Hughes told me (as of 5 PT) he hadn't been told anything. Anyway, with CC Sabathia going on Saturday, it may be a non-issue. Hughes is staying at his parents place, which is 10 minutes from Angels Stadium. Last year, he stayed there when he was an All-Star. His situation is a little different these days.

* The Yankees lost Lance Pendleton to the Astros. It is probably better for Lance because Girardi didn't even know about it until I asked him during the pregame.

* Francisco Cervelli was in the original lineup, but was replaced by Russell Martin. A Yankees spokesman said nothing is wrong with Cervelli.

* Jim Leyrtiz was on the field during the pregame. He spoke with Robinson Cano, among others. Leyritz was pitching coach for the Independent League Newark Bears this year.
