Jorge Posada hit his 14th homer of the season when he drilled a 1-1 knuckler from Tim Wakefield into the right-field seats. The 40-year-old veteran was then cajoled by the Yankee crowd to come out for a curtain call. He obliged.

Some may have scratched their heads when they saw Joe Girardi's lineup Sunday because he inserted Posada as the DH. According to ESPN Stats & Information's Mark Simon, Posada hadn't hit cleanup since 2009.

Girardi explained the move by saying that he liked Posada's experience against Wakefield. Posada entered Sunday batting .217 in 69 career at-bats against Wakefield with four homers.

His fifth career blast off the knuckleballer gave the Yankees a 4-0 lead in the third.
