Jeter, Tex "disappointed" after loss

At times, Derek Jeter was all of the above when talking to reporters after the Yankees' Game 5 loss.
"I don't know if you can put it into words. It's very disappointing," Jeter said. "You play all year to get to this point and we lost. It's extremely disappointing."
Jeter went 1-for-5 in Game 5 with an infield single in the seventh that seemed like it was going to spark a rally. The Yankees eventually loaded the bases and seemed on the verge of a big inning. But Alex Rodriguez and Nick Swisher sandwiched strikeouts around Mark Teixeira's RBI walk, stifling the rally.
He also hit a deep fly to the warning track in right with one out in the eighth. If it went out, it would have given the Yankees a one-run lead. Jeter would say afterward that he thought it had a chance.
The rest of his team had plenty of chances.
"We had some opportunities and they pitched out of them," said Jeter, who ended up hitting .250 in the series to cap a mostly memorable regular season.
Jeter struggled in the first half of the year before heating up after recording his 3,000 career hit. He batted .331 after returning from the disabled list on July 4 and hit .358 over his final 39 games.
But when asked to some up his season, Jeter used the word "disappointing" over and over again.
"It's disappointing, I think there's no other way you can put it," Jeter said. "We came here to try to win and we didn't get it done."
ANOTHER SUBPAR POSTSEASON FOR TEX: Mark Teixeira started thinking about a bases-clearing hit as soon as he stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the seventh.
But he ended up taking ball four from Joaquin Benoit.
"It ended up not being enough," Teixeira said.
Teixeira's last at-bat ended another sub-par postseason for the Yankees first baseman. He hit a number of balls on the screws against Detroit but ended up batting .167 (3-for-18) with one RBI and no home runs.
The $180 million first baseman is hitting .170 with three homers and 12 RBI in 27 playoff games as a Yankee.
"It's very disappointing," Teixeira said. "This postseaon in particular, it just wasn't happening. I tied to do everything I could it just wasn't happening."
