Yankees GM Brian Cashman's trade talks for the White Sox John Danks never progressed too far, according to a baseball official familiar with their discussions.
Cashman and White Sox GM Kenny Williams haven't spoken in weeks, realizing they were not going to have a match. Instead of trading Danks, Chicago has reportedly agreed to a new five-year, $65 million deal with the lefty.
The Yankees liked the 26-year-old Danks, but with Danks approaching free agency Cashman couldn't justify sending any of his top prospects (Jesus Montero, Manny Banuelos or Dellin Betances, etc.) in a trade. Cashman did not want to take the risk of trading one of his young commodities for a pitcher who could walk by this time next year.
